The tales and legends of the sea monster is found in Island, Ireland and Norway.

There has been several storytellers coming to see the performance at Unicorn theatre. So was yesterday – now I can understand people disliking the work – it is quite agressive with a lot of energy, use of the room etc.
Some of this is because we had to do things one can not do in the classroom – we needed arguments for why the school had to come to the theatre and not the storytellers to the school.
And it is also due to our decoding of the stories.
Well, the comment yesterdaty was that I was small and pale and dissapearing next to Ben Haggarty. Well, I have never felt it like that and I guess that this comes from the fact him being my teacher, man, taller and larger.
BUT (Ps. I do not think the comment was meant for harm) has not the storyteller missed a bit of the point when given such a comment. This performance is not about the competetion between two storytellers – it is about delivering ”one story” – ”one performance”. We both owe the material, we both worked it out.
The story/ies has to be the main focus, and not two soloperformers standing next to each other.

The first insight
To be remembered
I remember giants born before time
Early they took care of me
Remember nine homes
Nine giant women
The tree to be measured
Unicorn Theatre, London, 2. – 7. feb.
Two formidable storytellers will lead you through the wildly imaginative landscape of Norse creation myths. Norwegian Heidi Dahlsveen, and Ben Haggarty from Britain, wander through an overwhelming world of wolves, giants and axe blades. They’ll tell bitterly comedic stories of wise and foolish Gods, the treacherous trickster Loki, and our ancestors – those poor, bewildered humans. Discover how the primal adventures of the Gods, along with the dark planet Saturn, the Sun and the Moon, have left their mark on our everyday lives.

Caught in dark future, originally uploaded by Frigg Ragu working and sleeping.
had a talk with a colleague tuesday which gave me a kind of revelation – I must make sure to think positive about the future. And in my work I must make sure that this comes through. Folktales, wondertales underlines this – the future is better – tomorrow will bring struggle yes, but also it so fat with hope. The constant rhetoric of fear is lacking archetypes, metaphors, it is limited and narrow.

Dear students!
Asylet is a pub in Grønland 28, Oslo, where we have storytelling once a month. We are now looking for a wild card , a new storyteller, who will be given the chance to perform together with more experienced storytellers. We would like the wild card story told by the student to be 10 – 15 minutes long. The student can tell a story of her own choice.
Grab the chance! Next storytelling event is on the 7 th of Feb, at 17.00. The main storytellers will be Hilde Vesaas and Tore Rahn – and maybe you?
Asylet vil continue to introduce new storytellers every month. Please send me an E mail to kultur@dagny.no and I `ll get back to you!
Welcome to Asylet!
Dagny

Poses for prose and poetry – Contest – 1. round
She saw him standing above her, strong body, clear eyes – holding a rose in his hand. Sight of him filled her with warmth …… he always did.
He bend down and placed the rose on her chest.
First then she relaised she was dead and he was standing next to her grave.
Welcome to create a ”photo haiku” story based on a pose from ”Poses from prose and poetry”. Now what is a haiku story? It is an expression I have borrowed and adapted from the danish storyteller and arcitect Hans Laurens. The idea of haiku stories is of course inspired by the japanese strict poetry form. Pratically it means that the story is very short. The story is build like this:
1. part – an impulse – very often the senses is active, one sees, smells or hear something. So the first part of the story is quite descriptive.
2. Part – here the move – the action comes in. The impulse leads to an action.
3. Part – the ending of the story. But it can not be just any ending – the ending must surprise and hopefully throw a new light on the previos parts.
So in the contest you are supposed to take a photo with a pose from ”Poses for prose and poetry (vendor PPP002 Female poses standing)” (to get here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/The%20Companion/140/173/2001 ) and add a text to the photo which creates a ”haiku story”. Of course the aim of this contest (1st round of 10) is to focus on the poses from ”Poses for prose and poetry”, but it is also a part of my research to find out what trigger stories within second life.
The winning pictures/photostories will be showed in the store and a photobook of poses and stories.
Welcome to use your wonderful imagination.
